Smokey BBQ Sauce Dipped KFC Spicy Chorizo Lardons Pickled Jalapeรฑos (added) Kentucky Slaw Sour Cream Aioli American Cheese Sauce Signature Bun . โน๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐โน๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐โน๐ฝโโ๏ธ๐โน๐ฝโโ๏ธ ~ After circumstances conspired against a worm lunch at DNO last week, we were able to get in yesterday to try the special before it finishes today. As seems to be custom at Ryde, it was huge. Iโm glad I didnโt double it like Iโd originally intended, and then changed my mind after seeing Burger_Grandmasterโs monstrosity ๐ Definitely some of the best fried chicken Iโve had. Ridiculously juicy. Seemed to be a different kind of coating, more in the kfc style, which is fine by me. The sauce was copious, sticky, and sweet. Iโm glad I added the jalapeรฑos. A burger with that much sweetness needs some heat imo. In hindsight, this is a burger I would have liked to try the death sauce on. I didnโt add bacon as I didnโt want it to over ride the chorizo, which was plentiful. The softness of the burger was a defining feature, as well as how gloriously messy it was ๐ Dirty burgering at its best.

Double Sirloin Patties Double American Cheese Krispy Bacon Signature Beefy Sauce 2x Krispy Kreme OG Glazed Donuts . ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฉ๐๐ฉ๐ ~ Itโs been a while between donut burger reviews for me, and a first trying actual Krispy Ireneโs as buns. In saying that, I just doubled the total number Iโve ever had ๐ This is a good representation of what a donut burger should be like. An odd sensation of a regular cheeseburger, with a simple sweet flavour to complement it. Beyond the flavour of the donuts, they do throw up a different texture to the usual experience. It was beautifully prepared. Beef was pink through the middle, nice char, juicy. The beef had a hard time trying to get its message across with how strongly sweet the donuts were, and got a bit lost. Bacon and donuts work every time, and this was no different. Crispy and salty, they went well with the donuts. Beefyโs sauce is a winner. Tangy, acidic enough to battle the rich elements. I prefer burgers with buns, but if youโve not tried a donut burger, this special from Beefyโs is a good place to jump in.

Normaโs had their official launch of their new truck at Akasha Brewery over the weekend, and with 50% off burgers I decided to load up the regular cheeseburger. The patties get a little lost with in The Bearded with the explosion of sweet maple flavour coming from the mayo and bacon. In saying that, the way the beef was cooked in this burger was a level up again from an already impressive base. The char on the patties were nuts. A dark metallic looking ruby red. Cooked through yes, but ridiculously juicy. I prefer the balance of the cheeseburger. More savoury, more acidity, a slightly sweet tangy sauce, enough extra sweetness and complexity from some of the best bacon in the Sydney burger scene. I rate The Bearded higher because of its extravagance, but Iโd rather eat this. Bring a fistful of napkins, youโll need them ๐ ~ ๐๐๐ผ Cheeseburger ๐๐ผ๐ . Double Wagyu Beef Patties Double American Cheddar Double Havarti Cheese Double House Smoked Brisket Shredded White Onion Drunken Sailors Jalapeรฑos & Tequila Relish Caramelised Onion Mayo Sweet Baby Reyโs BBQ Sauce Milk Bun . โ๐ผ๐โ๐ผ๐โ๐ผ๐โ๐ผ ~ 2HB pays homage to Northern Beaches world record holding human food shredder Jesse Food_Coma_Eats with last weeks special. It was a tower of delightful bbq flavours. Add some sliced bbq potato and youโre looking at my favourite bbq plate growing up ๐ I like the brisket Clinton smokes on site. It wasnโt as strong on the smoke flavour as last time I tried it, which is neither a positive or negative, but does show how different combinations of ingredients changes the way they come out in burger form. Loved the onion mayo. Jesse said it reminded him of French onion dip, and I totally agree. Mixed so well with the sweet bbq sauce. Beef patties were tasty as always, and adding harvarti to the standard American worked well. Plenty of raw onion to add the acidity needed to cut through all that richness. I loved the relish last time I tried it, but in this burger it was swept away by what was on top of it. Delicious bbq double cheeseburger.

Dry Aged Beef Patty American Cheese Streaky Bacon Deep Fried Chicken Tenders Parmesan Cheese Pickles Maple Mayo Spicy Wing Sauce Milk Bun . ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ~ Iโve not been sold on the beef/fried chicken combo. Until now. I knew it could work, I just didnโt know what the other components needed to be so the two proteins pulled in the same direction instead of competing against each other. This burger drew wows from all at the table. Itโs different no doubt. Itโs as sharp asf. Youโve got acidity coming from the wing sauce and pickles, and the sharp bite from the Parmesan. Itโs this burgers defining feature. Of course the chicken and beef are quality, but theyโre doing their best to balance out the power punch of the leading trio. My is this a 4.4 and not higher? My beef was over cooked ๐. Initially I thought it was smashed. It had that crazy caramelisation St Burgs gets on their patties, and it was a lot thinner than the usual HE patties. Was it a disaster, no. It wasnโt dry, it just could have been better, and it was totally saved by not being the dominant ingredient. Chicken? Juicy, delicious HE fried chicken. The maple mayo had plenty of maple flavour, but wasnโt that sweet, certainly not in the mix of the burger. The last beef special I was all over added maple bacon to balance out the savoury, but Iโd be hesitant this time. Maybe The_Hamburglar_213 can do a test for us ๐ A 4.6 easy with a usual HE patty. Super special.

Iโve been attempting to get to a few burger places on my list that Iโve yet to, or havenโt been to for a long time. Superior falls into the former. Long regarded for their salt aged beef and quality ingredients, I decided Iโd try out their Cali style burger. The burger is really beautifully presented. I took it out of its container and wrapping its served in. Thereโs signage around the store indicating the beef is cooked medium. The patties on this burger were cooked through. They werenโt dry by any means, but the texture was affected. Iโd be interested in hearing about the texture from those of you that have had these patties medium, as they must be a lot softer. Cooked through theyโre quite dense, with a thick feeling grind. Even with that, the beef is really tasty. The bacon is as thick a cut as Iโve had on a burger. Salty with good flavour. The salad components were nice and fresh, and I love a big round slice of tomato. Thickness, perfect. The sauce delicious. Some people enjoy Big Mac styled burgers, Iโve always preferred Whoppers, so Iโd add onion next time. The burger packs a lot of flavour, though in this burger the texture of the patties made it a bit chewy. ~ ๐๐ Double Superior Burger ๐๐ . I went into the city on Friday to check out DNOโs new home. Really nice setup they have going, with a lot more room. In saying that, they could have had a venue five times the size and still had people waiting it was heaving so hard ๐ Heading in at peak hour isnโt something I like doing, but sometimes circumstances be what they are. So I went simple. Standard special with added bacon. Considering the manic nature of the time, the burger came out in really good nick. Beef was juicy with a nice element of pink. My gf calls these burgers โbusyโ. With so many elements, it came together in a coherent manner. Pickle Rick said it best, the standard special gives you a really good platform to build on. DNO put out some really good beer burgers, and this is another one. They also do ketchup & mustard better than most. Another quality special. ~ ๐๐ต Ape Style ๐ต๐ . ๐๐ The Prius GT ๐๐ . Double Angus Patties Double American Cheese Double Bacon Mayo Bulgogi Mayo (?) House Slaw . ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ~ Second visit to Chi Ken San, this time with the intention of doing a review. I tried the Skyline on the first visit, after an hour of watching food bloggers take all manner of angles and combinations of the same items. The bacon was a standout, even cold. This time around I was given what seems to be a hybrid. The beef was there, the cheese has been changed to to the advertised American, and the slaw I present as expected. Then things start moving into unknown territory. The usual Chi Ken San/c&s bacon has been replaced with standard bacon which had grill marks. Thereโs a piece of bacon taking peak between the patties which I thought was the usual style, but beyond that piece it was as the other part. If there was any gouchujang on it, it didnโt show itself. The sauce mix also changed. Maybe the hoisin gets mixed with mayo? I was expecting a darker styled hoisin. Mayo was also added which made the whole burger quite creamy. It was a nice burger, but fell short of what the Skyline promises to deliver.
